It's been seen that reading for pleasure develops imaginations and better language skills than to watch TV. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Some
people
believe that reading brings more advantages in terms of imagination and language development than watching TV
. To a certain extent, I would agree with the statement, however
, I do opine that watching TV
at an appropriate level also
benefits our mind and literature skills as well.
It is undeniable that reading urge people
to imagine every scene and situation as all the vivid picture and events are depicted through words merely. As there are no visual displays, it could not shape people
into a particular image so that readers could use their minds to illustrate different pictures or events happening in the books or the articles in their ways , gradually by reading, people
could enhance not only their creative skills but also
their literacy levels. Besides
, by doing a lot of readings, people
will get used to seeing proper grammar, formal languages and new collocations, therefore
it could improve the readers' language capacities.
On the other hand
, watching TV
at the right portion and only watching appropriate programs also
benefits people
. Some programs trigger their viewers' imagination abilities such
as National Geography and Big bang theories that they could describe exactly every natural phenomenon. And then
other TV
programs like BBC News and Fox News can help people
especially language learners improve their communication skills through native speakers' ways of using daily words.
To sum up, I do agree that reading has more advantages than watching TV
in various fields. However
, watching TV
also
has its special benefits that should not be underestimated.Submitted by pphuongkhanh96 on
