Dear Mr Stone, I am writing to you to request a short time off

 Monday. I need to run an errand and I will be back in the office afterwards. My teammate will help to cover my work while I am away. I would need to be out of the workplace for a short while, to bring my grandmother to the hospital. I will be picking her up from her home and accompanying her for her medical consultation. Normally, my parents are the ones who take her to medical appointments.
However
, during
this
 pandemic time, I would like my parents to stay at home, which is why I will be accompanying her
instead
. I will need to leave the office at 1pm on the 10th of January and will be back no later than 4pm. While I will be out of the office, my teammate, Jason, will cover my duties. I will brief him on the urgent matters that would need his attention. I would like to seek your understanding and would appreciate it if you could allow me to take 3-hour time off

Use cohesive linking words accurately and appropriately

Linking words are very important in your essay.

To score effectively on your IELTS exam, you should make an effort to implement short concise sentences coupled with linking words.

Almost every sentence in your essay should have a linking word of some sort.

In fact, the only sentences that can omit linking words are your background sentence and thesis.
