One of the consequences of improved medical care is that people are living longer and life expectancy is increasing. Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples.

The breakthroughs we are seeing in science seem to be adding years to our lives. In most cases,
this
is fantastic and the world should be celebrating
this
as a huge achievement of modern technology.
Although
, we must discuss
also
the downside of it and question if we favour quantity over
quality
. I don't think living longer means we are happier. There are clear pitfalls to living over a certain point as the
quality
of
life
might not be optimal and each
case
should be studied as a stand-alone situation. Humans want to live longer. The uncertainty around death creates anxiety in most individuals.
Similarly
, when a loved one is sick and there is a possibility we might not see them again we would do anything to prevent that from happening.
Such
as a cancer patient that undergoes painful chemotherapy to extend their
life
, just to be with their family and friends for a few more months. While treatment can absolutely extend their time on earth, the remainder of their time with us will be undoubtedly very different to what they used to know. In spite of all the advances we have at our disposal, most cancer patients choose to end their lives at some point. Each
case
should be assessed individually. Just like when healthcare professionals are choosing a treatment for a patient, the option to extend someone's
life
should be explored based on the individual characteristics of that particular
case
.
Consequently
, there is no magic answer or solution,
thus
we need clear legislation to protect individuals who are approaching the end of their journey. After all,
this
is the only way we, as a society, will be able to ensure each
case
is looked at in detail. When science extends your time and you can have a comparable
quality
of
life
to other people your age, or better, we should take the opportunity without hesitation. To show that, vaccinations have been instrumental not only to allow us to live longer but
also
to improve the
quality
of
life
we experience. In conclusion, living more does not mean we are having a better
life
. In
summary
Add a comma
,summary
show examples
there are multiple factors to be considered before making a decision.
Lastly
, the only option we have is to prevent rather than cure.
Thus
, it is important to get all our immunizations should your goal be to live a happy and long
life
.
