You were absent from an important event held by the company you work for. Write a letter to your manager. In your letter: • Apologize for your absence • Explain why you had to be at the other event • Explain what you will do to catch up
Dear Mr Bank,
I am writing
this
letter to express my apology regarding the absence of the crucial conference last
week.
I am incredibly sorry not to take part in the meeting which was arranged by our firm. The reason why I was unable to attend this
event
is that I had been asked by our senior executive to participate in a training course
in terms of the amendment of taxation law.
Initially
, our manager planned to take this
training section by himself. However
, he told me he was willing to show up in the event
that our firm organized and asked me to take the training course
instead
of him.
Furthermore
, as you will know, those changes in the taxation law are connected to our work extremely, so I had to give up attending the last
Friday event
to take part in the course
.
I envisage that there are several tasks that I need to do to catch up on due to being absent from the meeting. Currently, I am writing a report with regard to the content of the course
that I attended, and I reckon I will be able to complete it at the end of this
week. As a result
, I plan to learn the information which was presented at the event
from next
week.
If you would like to discuss my absence and the content of our event
with me further
, please contact me without hesitation. I am looking forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely,

- The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
- A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)
When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.
All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
