An English-speaking friend has written to you to ask you how your IELTS studies are going. Write a letter telling your friend how you are preparing for the test. In your letter: say what progress you are making explain how you are preparing for the test say which section you are finding the most difficult You should write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any address. Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Luiza, How are you? I miss you so much! I'
ve
just read your letter and I'
m
really glad you wrote to me. I'
m
writing to tell you that I haven't hung out with you for a while because I'
m
currently studying hard for the IELTS exam as I'
m
going to take it on December 3rd. Actually, I reckon I'
ve
improved very much my skills as I'
m
finally
getting my aim mark on mock tests. Right now I'
m
already able to understand completely the listening part, as well as I have been
also
given the right answers for the reading one. In
this
way, I'
ve
been preparing myself for the test by having some online classes and watching videos on youtube from teachers who are specialized in it.
Thus
, they recommended I listen to some English podcasts on Spotify and transcript what I'
ve
heard.
In addition
, they
also
say I ought to read as many books as I can to sharpen my grammar.
However
, even though I'
ve
been following all their orientations, I'
m
still having a hard time on the speaking part of the exam. As you know, I'
m
a really anxious person and it has not been helping me at all through the IELTS. In fact, every time the teacher tells me the mock test is going
to begin
, I kind of forget everything I'
ve
studied. I'
m
looking forward to seeing you, as soon as I ace
this
exam. Please give my regards to your parents. Best wishes, Anna

Use cohesive linking words accurately and appropriately

Linking words are very important in your essay.

To score effectively on your IELTS exam, you should make an effort to implement short concise sentences coupled with linking words.

Almost every sentence in your essay should have a linking word of some sort.

In fact, the only sentences that can omit linking words are your background sentence and thesis.

Linking word examples:

  • firstly
  • secondly
  • thirdly
  • in additional
  • moreover
  • also
  • for example
  • for instance
  • therefore
  • however
  • although
