People living in large cites today face many problems in their everyday life. What are these problems? Should governments encourage people to move to smaller regional towns?
The modern world has experienced individuals migrating from rural areas to urban centres, and
that is
why many city
dwellers have been exposed to several challenges in their day to day life
.Some of the challenges are; congestion and pollution. In my view, the ruling state should put in place a proper urban plan and devolve services in order to minimise migration.
City
life
has its own fair share of problems.Firstly
,since many people are opting for town life
,consequently
congestion settle in.To illustrate this
the urban development is overwhelmed with individuals, thus
the houses
available are not enough to cater for the growing population
.For ,example the sprouting of informal settlements is seen in most parts of the towns
.Secondly
,towns
are associated with numerous industries and manufacturing locations, because of this
the city
population
is prone to many health-related illnesses from industries. For instance
,the recent report by the Ministry of Health indicated that 80% of the city
population
suffers from health conditions that result from the industries. Thus
,urban life
is faced with either overpopulation or several hazardous from the pollution.
On the other hand
,the government has various measures that can help minimise the challenges. To begin
with,It can devolve some of the services to lower-level communities. If the common basic requirements are put closer to people, this
solution can reduce the number of them travelling to towns
.Another important activity , the state can do is to get involved in the urban planning development and build modern houses
that the population
can afford. When the planning is done by the relevant authority this
can limit the coming up of informal settlement. Moreover
,the building of affordable houses
will reduce significantly congestion in the cities. Therefore
,proper planning and building of cheap affordable houses
are significant measures to rural-urban migration.
To conclude,although
,cities provide a lucrative platform for jobs it posses a serious threat to overpopulation and health conditions. However
,the state has a responsibility of not only developing urban plans but also
erecting affordable houses
. And also
devolving the services to the local areas to discourage travelling of people to towns
