Online shopping is becoming more common these days. What effect could this have on the environment and the types of jobs required?

In
this
day and age, online shopping is becoming more popular and it has both positive and negative effects on the environment
such
as consuming fewer fuels and increasing wastes. It
also
has impacts on job opportunities
such
as an increase in the need for IT workers. By purchasing products on websites people will use fewer fossil fuels, for they drive less to their shopping destinations.
This
will result in less air pollution and a decrease in road congestion during rush hours.
Furthermore
, when online shopping is becoming more rampant, natural resources may be consumed less because of the reduction in the construction of new roads or buildings for shops.
Nevertheless

the more packaging is inevitable if people order goods online which leads to increasing wastes.
For instance
, I bought a dress online and when it was delivered, I was surprised to find three layers of wrappings around it;
however
, it is clear that the packaging is really important because it will protect the goods from damage while they are being sent to costumers but
this
will lead to an increase in paper and plastic usage.
Although
by increasing the popularity of online shopping the unemployment rate may rise when shop workers
such
as cashiers, security guards, and sellers lose their jobs, more vacant job opportunities will be available for IT workers
such
as web developers, web designers, UI and UX designers.
Moreover
,
this
trend may cause to increase in the need for more employees for delivering the products to customers in transportation companies. All things considered, shopping on the Internet has become popular which has undeniable positive and negative effects on the environment and jobs. As for positive impacts less fuel used and more job opportunities can be mentioned and for negative impact producing more wastes is an example.
