The Internet has changed the way we interact with each other now compared to in the past. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this?

The
Internet
is omnipresent in everyone's daily life, and there is no doubt that it has changed the way we communicate. Formerly, the only way to communicate with someone was to arrange a personal meeting or write a letter.
However
, social media, chats, and video conversations are currently the most frequent methods of communication. In
this
essay, I will outline what I consider to be potential advantages of using the
Internet
as the primary channel of social interaction, as well as some of the negative outcomes that I feel are occurring. In terms of the benefits of digitalized communication, there are but are not limited to, two clear ones. The
first
is the ability to connect with
people
who live in other countries. To illustrate, when someone moved to a different country
that is
far away from his home country, having touch with relatives is indeed very convenient thanks to
internet
chats, video talks, and phone calls.

instant communication is essential. Another advantage that has lately been observed all across the world is the fact that nearly all social situations may now be moved through the
Internet
. During the COVID pandemic,
for instance
, when personal contact is not safe, a significant number of
people
and businesses may continue to function normally, students can attend classes, and relatives and friends can stay connected. All of
this
is possible because of the
Internet
.
However
, there are
also
potential drawbacks to using the
Internet
to engage with others. One is that the level of social skills among younger generations is dropping dramatically.
Thus
, the consequence of online communicators overtaking social relations manifests in young individuals who lack matured abilities
such
as teamwork or empathy. It may
also
cause problems at university or career, where interactions with others are an important part of everyday life. Another concern is disrupted relationships with grandparents. Even though for the majority of society, an online chat or phone call is sufficient to preserve good bonding, there are many older
people
who prefer face-to-face interaction. It is quite difficult for them to adjust to modern life without frequent personal

. To summarize, while online contact has many beneficial features, it can
also
have some negative repercussions. I wholeheartedly believe, that when used wisely, the
Internet
can have a significant positive impact on
people
's interactions.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 250 words in writing task 2. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long essay will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 260 to 290 words in writing task 2. This will ensure a concise essay and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 40 minutes to write the essay and you need around 10 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long essay in 30 minutes.
