Some people think that news and media have a positive effect on our lives, while others disagree. What is your opinion?

Most people nowadays are in a mindset that
news
and media can give positivity to human lives. I partially agree with
this
since I have two views because
news
and media influence people positively and negatively as well.
First
and foremost, by telecasting or publishing foreign affairs, weather and sports,
society
gain knowledge on emerging trends globally.
Moreover
, one who listens to channels,
such
as BBC and CNN are up-to-date regarding the financial situation and how the stock exchange behaves all over the world.
Nevertheless
, in some countries, there are hourly
news
alerts that telecasts, which is beneficial for the residents to be vigilant.
For example
, when the bomb attack happened in Sri Lanka in 2019 by a group of terrorists, there was a sudden broadcast of alerts on air to keep the
society
updated. Other than these, the weather forecast of the coming days is extremely beneficial for some occupations,
such
as fisherman and construction workers.
On the other hand
, it is undeniable that some posts publish in channels and newspapers have detrimental influences on
society
. Broadcasting homicide, suicidal, rape and child abuse cases will impact negatively the young minds
for example
. Media
also
can be used to deceive
society
atrociously during the election period to do political campaigns. In Asian countries,
this
type of propaganda can be seen drastically.
For instance
, most of the channels owned by the government are trying desperately to defend their unacceptable decisions and activities by telecasting false
news
items, but not revealing the truth. To sum up, after carefully considering the aforementioned facts, everybody can comprehend that
news
can do mixed effects on people.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
