With the rapid advancement of communication technology: smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices, some people believe that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In
this
day and age, there is a tremendously controversial perspective heating a debate whether the drawbacks of the rapidly-developing technological communication overshadow its merits. While
this
statement is valid to some extent, I would contend that it may do more good than harm. Without a shadow of a doubt,
this
trend causes a wealth of negative effects and one of them is the deterioration of human-to-human relationships. Nowadays,
people
, especially the young, tend to overuse intelligent devices
instead
of spending time refining their health, which leads to a bunch of harmful issues about not only their physical condition but
also
their well-being.
For instance
, American adolescents using smartphones more than five hours per day are at risk of being overweight twice as high as others.
Hence
, top-notch technologies bring
people
numerous advantages. While the cons of a fast-paced society are widely acknowledged, it is unfair if its pros are ignored. Human-to-human communication in different areas becomes significantly faster and more convenient. Several smart gadgets like smartphones, tablets, computers are easily connected with social media so
people
can easily make new friends, especially international ones, find like-minded
people
and contact through their own technological devices rather than person to person.
Therefore
,
in addition
to the harmful effects, the positive ones contribute to revamping human lives. In conclusion,
although
people
are suffering from the advanced technological facilities' a large number of drawbacks, I believe that it has a positive impact and it has changed our lifestyle for the better.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 250 words in writing task 2. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long essay will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 260 to 290 words in writing task 2. This will ensure a concise essay and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 40 minutes to write the essay and you need around 10 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long essay in 30 minutes.
