Recent figures show an increase in violent crime among youngsters under the age of 18. Some psychologists claim that the basic reason for this is that children these days are not getting the social and emotional learning they need from parents and teachers. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

There is debate among
psychologists
that the main reason why aggressive crimes exist among minors is due to the lack of getting the social and emotional support from their families and tutors. I strongly disagree with the viewpoint with my detailed arguments in the following paragraphs. There are several reasons why I do not support the recent figures that correlated the increase in severe crimes among youngsters below the legal age with their parents and educators.
Firstly
, I do not see that there is a relationship between both of the subjects, and
this
is because there is no significant insight someone can gain from studying them.
Furthermore
, for more than 50 years, both of the educational establishments and households were the same;
therefore
, they are constants, not variables. Since both of them are constants
this
conclusion is suggest that
psychologists
should reexamine their study. Another reason why I think that
this
notion should not be accepted is that there is an abundance of research that agrees that contents
such
as movies and tv series are one of the reasons that spread violence between young adults.
Also
, minors have a spongy mind that absorbs information faster than adults. Subconsciously, youngsters might do actions without knowing why do they do it. Behaviourally speaking,
for example
, when someone watches a movie that lures people to do drugs,
this
could be manifested into reality
this
is because the mind has appealed to that idea. In conclusion,
psychologists
believe that the primary explanation why young adults commit a crime is due to social and emotional factors. I believe that
this
argument is weak because there is no correlation between the subjects and there are other aspects that the
psychologists
do not shed the light on.

Support ideas with relevant, specific examples

Examples make your writing easier to understand by illustrating points more effectively.

Examples, if used properly, not only help you get higher marks for ‘Task Response’ but also for ‘Coherence’.

When giving examples it is best to put them after your main idea or topic sentence. They can be used in the middle of supporting sentences or they can be used to start a new sentence. There is no rule for where exactly to give examples in essays, logically they would come after your main idea/topic sentence or just after a supporting sentence.

Linking words for giving examples:

  • for example
  • for instance
  • to illustrate this
  • to give a clear example
  • such as
  • namely
  • to illustrate
  • take, for example
