Some people feel that the design of newly constructed buildings in big cities should be controlled by governments. Others believe those who finance the construction of a building should be free to design it as they see fit. Discuss both these views and give your opinion.

It is believed by some that the government should have control over the architectural designs of new constructions in major cities. Whereas, others feel that the individual financers have the
right
to
design
the buildings as they like. In
this
essay, I will explain both points of view and
also
express my own opinion. On one hand, when the
city
planning department of the government has control of the designs, they will be able to develop a specific style of architecture of the
city
.
This
will help in making the
city
aesthetically pleasing.
For instance
, cities like St.Petersburg and Barcelona have a uniform architectural
design
throughout making them two of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Additionally
, planned designs will help
city
planners use these urban spaces more ergonomically to plan for future projects.
On the other hand
, people should have to
right
to
design
as they see fit as it is their own personal property as they are the ones who are financing it. Giving the state the
right
to
design
personal property will be a clear violation of property rights. A landowner,
for example
, should be able to have his own architectural choice on what to do in his space without the influence of the state.
Moreover
, personal freedom of
design
will help creativity flourish and
also
can be cost-effective for landowners. In my opinion, I agree that the financer should always have the final say in the
design
choices of the construction as it is his fundamental
right
.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
