Few people devote time to hobbies nowadays. Say why you think this is the case and what effect this has on the individual and society in general.
In the contemporary epoch, people are spending lesser time on their hobbies. I believe that the addiction to gadgets and the desire to obtain opulence are the major causes why people don’t go for a physical sport.

, they are restricting themselves to mundane work which is correspondingly reducing their creativity. In the following paragraphs, I would emphasize the probable reasons and how they will affect the individual’s emotional factor and ultimately society.
At the outset, there are two causes for the gradual decrease in
hobbies. The first
reason is the over usage of gadgets. People are spending hours over the internet watching OTTs or videos which are easily available and a major source of entertainment. As a

, they are resilient to move outside their comfort space for their amusement. Additionally
, in the cut-throat competitive world where everyone is focused on earning bread and butter for the family, they hardly find leisure time for their relaxation. This
is resulting in lowering the creativity of an individual along with the major absence of any physical activity. To illustrate, my neighbour Mr Nair let his favourite hobby of cycling after he got promoted to the Chairman of the MNC.
As a
result
, there is a detrimental effect on the health of human beings. In the recent era, there is an enormous increase in various life-threatening diseases like blood pressure, sugar which also
gives rise to further
illness. In the absence of any outdoor activities, other issues like stress, depression has risen to a greater extent and as a
result
, the life expectancy of human beings has decreased. For example
, today the number of suicide rates or work-related stress has spiked up swiftly and is a matter of concern.
On the whole, the present generation should understand the importance of hobbies in raising their personalities and enjoying their life to the fullest.Submitted by nehajaiswal4220 on

The Greeting
Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.
Always start an informal letter in the ways:
- Dear + name
- Hi / Hello + name
‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.
For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:
- Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
- Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
