Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society. Other, however, believe that school is the place to learn this. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Some individuals argue that the
parents
must teach young people how to behave in society
while others claim that they should learn this
in school
. This
essay aims to examine both views and explain why the parenting role of teaching children
how to be good members of society
can not be fully done by the school
.
The first
people that children
know well are their closest relatives. Additionally
, they learn how to behave by copying other individuals' behaviour
. Therefore
, they start learning how to behave even before they start their academic life. For example
, toddlers usually speak like their parents
. If they, at that young age, learn an improper behaviour
such
as using rude words their teachers would have to change what they have learnt. Nevertheless
, it is hard to change a behaviour
when it is reinforced every time the children
return to their homes and begin to imitate again their parents
.
It is certainly true that teaching how to be a member of society
is also
part of the school
curricula. That is
why some fathers and mothers think it is its
responsibility and not theirs. In my opinion, they are ignoring their own responsibility and that can lead to Correct pronoun usage
their
children
with inadequate behaviour
. For instance
, parents
can teach their children
to be always kind to other people and not only when they are being watched by a teacher.
To sum up, even though it is part of the school
's responsibility to teach its students how to behave in society
, this
is insufficient and parents
are the main ones responsible for this
since their children
are born.Submitted by ignaciogigli on
