INCREASING THE PRICE OF PERTROL IS THE BEST WAY TO SOLVE THE GROWING TRAFFIC AND POLLUTION PROBLEMS.

Nobody is a stranger to the fact that raising the cost of petrol is the most effective way to reduce the growing traffic as well as pollution issues. To my way of thinking, there are both pros and cons to
this
view in equal measure. There are many advantages, if you ask me, to
this
situation. Perhaps chief among these is it is very costly. If people spend a lot of money on petrol, it means they have less money to spend on other essential things like food, education and so on. The cost of living is much higher these days because the population of the world has exploded over the past 40 years or so. More people mean there is much more fierce competition for everything. As a rule, they would more likely rely on public transport and leave their cars at home. Bus and train tickets are
also
cheaper these days than driving.
Accordingly
, there would be fewer cars on road, which can reduce the amount of air pollution. Turning to the negative effects of
this
state of affairs, there are many of these, in my view. For one thing, public transport gets pressure from accommodating a large number of public transport users. Governments need to build more new railway lines and busy roads in order to meet commuters' needs.
This
means governments have less money to spend on other infrastructure and facilities like schools and hospitals and the like. At the end of the day, there are merits and drawbacks to the same degree to every choice we make, both as individuals and as a society.
This
matter is no exception to that rule.
