Some people believe that nowadays we have too many choices. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

These days, with the increase in technological advancements,
people
are able to access information about multiple things at their fingertips.
This
information overload is acting as a gateway to numerous possibilities in
life
to deal with. While
this
essay agrees that the plethora of
choices
in
life
could be overwhelming to make a decision, it
also
looks at the opportunity to make a better conclusion after evaluating multiple
choices
about different aspects of
life
. On the
one
hand, in modern times, the
number
of various alternatives that
people
have could lead to confusion about their
choices
.
For instance
, individuals are gaining immediate access to different
options
available before buying a mobile phone or before starting their education or career. Various
options
that seem closer could be troublesome in opting for a single
selection
at the end
such
as selecting a phone of
one
model while there are too many brands providing similar features in the same price range.
Moreover
, online websites are pouring out a huge
number
of
choices
pertaining to any information
that is
being searched for.
Therefore
, it is argued that the
number
of
choices
that
people
are having access to is significantly increased.
On the other hand
, these numerous
choices
can lead to the best possible
selection
by carefully analyzing
options
.
This
could be driven by narrowing down
one
’s specific requirements.
For example
, while there are a competing
number
of
options
available for mobile phones, the
selection
process becomes easy by having a clear budget and the features required by an individual.
Similarly
, from a plethora of fashionable clothes,
one
can easily select a specific type by looking at comfort and price as the
selection
criteria.
Moreover
, when there are plenty of
options
,
one
need not compromise on the quality of their
choices
.
Therefore
, it enables humans to derive a satisfactory decision or outcome after a thorough analysis of different
choices
. To sum it up, the world is overflowing with numerous
options
related to various aspects of
life
which could overwhelm
people
in making decisions. While
this
is partially true when the individual is not clear about the needs, it could actually be advantageous to arrive at a satisfactory outcome by the analysis of different
choices
based on the clarity in requirements.
This
essay would recommend trimming down the
choices
by having clarity on the evaluation criteria.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
