In the 20th century, contact between many different parts of the world has developed apidly through air travel and telecommunications. Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?

During the 20th century, technological advancements have led to an
increase
in the interdependency of
nations
. While there are a few disadvantages to the
increase
in international contacts, I believe that the advantages
such
as an
increase
in international trade and the ability to pursue higher education in foreign
nations
, far outweigh the disadvantages. On the one hand, I concede that it has led to a
rise
in the invasion. Due to the
increase
in
air
travel and modes of communication, it is easier for
countries
to invade smaller
countries
. During the
second
world war,
for example
, the
rise
in
air
transportation and the aviation industry made it simple for
nations
like Russia to colonize other
nations
.
Consequently
,
such
countries
are able to invade the smaller
nations
for the purpose of expanding their kingdoms,
therefore
, acquiring unique resources available in these colonies.
However
, the main drawback is the
increase
in
air
congestion
. What
this
means is that with the
rise
in
air
travel for domestic as well as international purposes, more and more
air
congestion
is taking place.
As a result
,
this
sometimes leads to a huge delay in the
air
transit from one place to other.
For instance
, whenever there is huge traffic
congestion
in the
air
, the flights are either cancelled or delayed.
However
, despite these negatives, I feel that there are more positives to
this
.
First
of all, the
increase
in international ties has paved the path for trade between
nations
. It is so common today to import commodities and items from different
countries
. Take vegetable like Brocolli,
for example
, which is unique to
countries
such
as the United States and Canada and are exported to the
nations
where they are not available.
Consequently
, making it accessible to every corner of the world. The most important benefit is an
increase
in international education.
Although
an
increase
in international ties sometimes leads to war due to compatibility issues, I believe that
this
has
also
created a way for knowledge transfer between universities across the world. Due to easily accessible travel, more and more students prefer studying abroad. While there are many who do not leave their comfort zone, there are students who are interested in pursuing their higher education at renowned colleges
such
as Harvard University or Oxford University, and
this
development has surely proven beneficial. In conclusion, while international contacts lead to a
rise
in war-like scenarios and
air
congestion
,
this
also
benefits humans due to an
increase
in trade between
nations
and a chance to pursue higher studies in foreign
nations
.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 250 words in writing task 2. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long essay will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 260 to 290 words in writing task 2. This will ensure a concise essay and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 40 minutes to write the essay and you need around 10 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long essay in 30 minutes.
