Some people say that music is a good way of bringing people of different cultures and ages together. To what extent agree or disagree with this opinion?

Music
is indispensable in modern society. It is said that
music
plays a key role in connecting
people
with different cultures and ages. In my view, while I agree that
music
can bring
people
together to a large extent, there is a worrying case that needs to be taken into account. Unlike verbal communications, the melody does not require language. A rhythm, sounds and musical instruments are important
instead
. From
this
aspect, it can be said that singing is an effective method to connect
people
because language is the main obstacle when it comes to communicating with
people
from different cultures. As a matter of fact, famous
songs
are widespread internationally because the atmosphere of their
songs
moved
people
. A new communication platform, TikTok, represents
this
trend enough. A song called ”way back home” by a Korean singer received 20M views for its TikTok video. The viewers ranging from Korea to other countries emphasised the song’s tempo and mood.
On the other hand
, it should be considered that a taste for
music
is not always universal. Some
people
enjoy hip-hop
music
, but others do not. While in America,
people
tend to like rap
music
, in Japan
people
prefer relatively quiet
songs
such
as love
songs
.
Similarly
, the same goes for the difference in ages. Especially in Japan,
for example
, the old enjoy classic
music
because about fifty years ago, these kinds of

song was mainstream. These days,
however
, the young listen to hip-hop
music
more because of easy access to international
music
via the internet. Given these facts, it seems to be difficult to assume that
music
always helps
people
get along. To conclude,
although
there is a little concern about using
music
as communication, overall,
music
is of essence to support
people
to get to know each other.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
