To meet the growing need for food to support an increasing population, a country should make use of edible insects as a food source. However, some people believe that insects are not only unhealthy but harvesting them will also negatively affect nature. What are the benefits and drawbacks of eating insects? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

It is undeniable that as the population rises, the need for
food
will increase. Fortunately, some
people
found out that
insects
can be a
food
supply for humans.
However
, others support the theory; that eating
insects
is not only healthy but
also
damages nature during harvesting. In
this
essay, I will discuss the pros and cons of
insects
being used as human
food
Firstly
, eating
insects
could solve the
food
crisis. There are several issues causing
food
shortages.
For example
, crops are affected by natural disasters
such
as heat waves.
This
commonly results in a
food
supply chain. Here is a case, the Indian government banned the export of wheat because the heat wave caused the entire quantity of wheat to decrease. Compared with crops, the growth period of
insects
is relatively short. If
people
can accept
insects
as
food
, it will help
people
to get through the
food
crisis.
Moreover
, growing
Insects
have more productivity. Compared with animal farming,
insects
need relatively low
food
. As we know that 10
kg
of
food
can get 1
kg
of beef, and 10
kg
of
food
can harvest 9
kg
of
insects
. In
this
case, the cost of
food
will be lower and most low-income
people
can survive.
However
, there is a possible drawback to eating
insects
. Because the policy is not completed yet, it might cause some problems during the buying and shipping process. Once a feeding insect has run away from the case, it would become a new species in the world.
This
is possibly an upcoming issue just waiting to be tackled.  Overall, farming
insects
could be a possible approach to solving the
food
crisis.
However
, the management of
insects
is the more important part that we have to complete
first
.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
