The internet has changed the way we communicate. Much communication today happens through social media. Some people support this and think it is a positive development. Others believe that social media have negative effects. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

It is argued that in modern life, the means of
communication
are through the
internet
and social
media
. Some
people
think that
this
has more positive developments for everyone.
However
, others believe that using social
media
to communicate has some negative effects. In
this
essay, I will discuss both views and why the
internet
affects a lot in our
lives
. On the one hand, there are several reasons why some
people
believe that
communication
can help positive developments in our life.
To begin
with, when
people
communicate on the
Internet
, they can save their travel time, they only have a computer or phone to communicate with everyone they want in all situations or weathers condition.
For example
,
people
, who live away from their families, can easily communicate with their family on the
Internet
. Overall, social
media
have made
communication
easier for
people
.
On the other hand
, I believe that
communication
through social
media
can negatively impact their
lives
.
Firstly
, we will likely meet many bad
people
on social
media
and they can make harmful to us and cause negative effects on our
lives
.
Moreover
,
people
can easily affect by wrong words or manners when communicating on social networks.
Secondly
, communicating through social
media
can make
people
not want to face-to-face with others in the real world and they will live a distance from their family and friends.
For example
, some
people
like playing computers game so that forgetting to go out or spend time with their family and friends.
Hence
using the
Internet
to communicate can affect a lot in our
lives
. In conclusion,
although
using the
internet
can help us a lot in
communication
with everyone, it seems to me that the effects of
communication
through social
media
have negative impacts on
people
.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
