2. Prison is the common way in most countries to solve the problem of crime. However, a more effective solution is to provide people a better education. Do you agree or disagree?

It is true that putting
criminals
in prison is now the familiar way to address the problem of
crime
in most countries
although
a number of
people
believe that better
education
is more efficient in solving
crime
issues. From my stance, imprisoning
criminals
is a more acceptable way than just equipping
people
with enough
education
. In
this
essay, I will delve deep into both arguments and give out my logical conclusion. On the one hand, there is a school of thought agreeing that
education
is a powerful tool to tackle the issue of
crime
. To elucidate,
people
supporting
this
point of view believe that when equipped with knowledge about aspects of laws, inhabitants would be able to distinguish between right and wrong things.
Therefore
, citizens can be aware of what they do and avoid committing crimes.
However
,
education
may not be an effective way to solve
crime
issues as in nations where most
people
are educated
such
as America, there are still a lot of
criminals
.
On the other hand
, I would argue that putting
criminals
behind bars is necessary as
education
is not enough to tackle the problem of
crime
. To clarify, not only do
people
who are lacking in
education
commit crimes but highly educated
people
are
also
criminals
.
For example
, there are managers working in the bank who embezzle thousands of dollars or hackers who break into banks’ databases and steal money. Albeit being educated enough to recognize their illegal activities, they still do these activities because of their greed.
Therefore
, a deterrent
such
as imprisoning
criminals
is vital in order to address the issue of
crime
. In conclusion, I believe that prison sentences are one essential weapon in the fight against
crime
, and I disagree that providing better
education
alone is a more effective solution to reducing the
crime
rate.
