Your child is going on a three day school trip to another country. The head teacher wants to find parents to go with the group and you would like to go. Write a letter to the head teacher. In your letter: Say why you would like to go on the trip Suggest what you could do to help during the trip Ask other questions about the trip
I am writing
this
letter to express my interest in accompanying my son on the institution trip to the USA
. I was already planning a foray to the USA
with my child but due to my busy ,schedule
we could not travel. Add a comma
,schedule
However
, I will be available next
month so it will be a great opportunity for me to join my son on this
seminary outing.
I have visited the USA
multiple times and I am very familiar with the cities that your academy is planning to visit; therefore
, I think I will be able to share a lot of useful information with the students going on the expedition. However
, I have two questions related to the cruise. Firstly
, what will be the mode of transportation between the cities in the USA
? Secondly
, are we supposed to book the hotels ourselves or will it be done by the academy administration?
I really hope that you will allow me to join my son on the trip.
Thank you for your consideration.
Yours faithfully,

The Greeting
Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.
Always start an informal letter in the ways:
- Dear + name
- Hi / Hello + name
‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.
For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:
- Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
- Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
