You have been living in a rental apartment for the past year. Recently a new neighbour moved in who has loud parties several times a week. Write a letter complaining about this to the landlord. In your letter: • explain the situation • describe why it bothers you • suggest a solution
I am writing
this
letter to request you to kindly give me some extra time to pay the rent to you.
As you know for the last
ten years, I am your tenant and I have successfully paid the rent on time always. I have never created any nuisance for you or the neighbours around. Owing to the warmth of our bond, I am expecting you to kindly cooperate with me in this
situation.
Due to some uncertain circumstances, I lost my current job due to the recession I was terminated from the job which I had with Cerner Pvt. Ltd. The Salary would be put on hold as I will get the amount as a full and final settlement after 45 days from last
working date which is June 25.
I promise to pay the complete pending dues with the rent for the new month on June 26. Your cooperation during our tough times will be highly appreciated.
Yours Sincerely

The Greeting
Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.
Always start an informal letter in the ways:
- Dear + name
- Hi / Hello + name
‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.
For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:
- Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
- Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
