In the future, there will be a higher proportion of older people than young people in many countries. Is it positive or negative development?

It is widely believed that the proportion of older adults will be higher than young
people
in a number of corners of the world. Despite its disadvantages, the merits would be justified. The increase in the elderly population leads to various detrimental effects. The
first
disadvantage is that the prevalence of chronic diseases increases with

For example
, one elderly adult has many comorbidities
such
as hypertension, chronic coronary disease, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease.
As a result
, there are many heavy burdens of disease and economics for their families and
countries
. The
second
downside is that older
people
have inability for working;
therefore

leads to a shortage of human resources for manufacturing companies in many
countries
. Notwithstanding, having an

who have a lot of time staying home,
that is
a human resource for taking care of the children of young
people
who have to work in the office all day in many
countries
, especially Asian
countries
, and Vietnam is a typical example. Another merit worth mentioning is that the parents of these young
people
also
help them in cleaning the house and preparing meals.
This
helps them to save family expenses
instead
of having to hire a maid. And, the fact that parents help their children is a cultural tradition in Asian
countries
. In conclusion, while witnessing a sharper increase in the percentage of senior citizens compared to that of junior ones would be problematic, the positive implications should be taken into consideration.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
