Some people think that the government should strictly control the supply of fresh water, as it is a limited resource, while others believe it should not be regulated. Discuss both views.

Even though some people strongly believe
governments
should exercise strict regulation of
water
supply, part of the population is against
such
a control. In the following paragraphs,
this
essay will
first
explore the reasons to support the establishment of a rigid
water
supply management, and
second
, discuss alternative solutions to deal with
water
scarcity. On the
one
hand,
governments
are drafting different proposals to regulate and manage the supply of fresh
water
. Environmentalists and advocates against climate change support and encourage authorities to take action to regulate the supply of
such
a natural
resource
under the argument that it is not only a finite
resource
but
also
a vital
one
for human life, and as
such
strict policies should be implemented to take good care of it before it is too late.
For instance
, it has been widely covered in recent studies, how the lack of
water
supply regulations together with the summer drought is quickly drying out rivers and lakes in China and in European countries.
On the other hand
, there is a big portion of the world population
that is
against control and regulation. They are stating that
such
programs could empower
governments
in the wrong way and expose the population to being abused until the point of being deprived of
such
a vital
resource
. They
instead
encourage authorities to look for alternative solutions.
For example
, like the initiative being executed in Sydney, where as part of the new urban areas’ development, the government has published and implemented regulations to deploy two
water
supplies in parallel,
one
for drinking
water
and the other
one
for recycled and rainwater. In conclusion, some consider
this
natural
resource
too precious and
thus
,
governments
show oversee it, while others are against
such
control and encourage authorities to come up with alternative solutions to deal with the matter.
