You have read an article in a newspaper that contains incorrect information about your town/city. Write a letter to the editor of the newspaper to inform them about the mistake. In your letter - Describe your knowledge of the city. - Explain what information was incorrect in your opinion. - Suggest how the editor could fix this error.
Dear Sir,
I am writing
this
letter to bring to your notice the error I came across, issued in this
week's article section 'The wonders', Hindustan Times. Firstly
, it was unbelievable that a newspaper like yours which have an international viewership can make a mistake like this
. Secondly
, you must proofread the matter yet to be issued and make correct editing using authentic artefacts before giving the same for publishing.
In this
week's ,issue there was a statement giving information about the lakes of my city, Bhopal. I was born and brought up in this
city and I have seen it changing and developing over time immemorial. I am very thorough with the history of this
city and its people.
The paragraph stated incorrect details about the Upper Lake being a natural water body in the centre of Bhopal. Moreover
, confirming it by giving some false pieces of evidence of the same. But in reality, the Upper Lake is one of the few man-made lakes in the world which came into existence through the tireless efforts of the king ruling central India in the 18th century, Raja Bhoj.
I kindly request you to make corrections in the given details and publish the right version in the next
week's issue with an addition of an apology alongside. This
is the least that can be done.
Yours Sincerely
