In the past, lectures were the traditional method of teaching large numbers of students in a classroom. Nowadays new technology is increasingly being used to teach students. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this new approach to teaching?

We have moved into an automation-driven era where
technology
is affecting many different aspects of our life, and
education
is no exception. So, in some schools, traditional methods of
education
have been revolutionized by new
technology
to the extent that the lecture is no longer the main method of teaching
students
.
However
, while these technological advances have shortcomings, I strongly believe these developments in
education
will result in more positive impacts than negative ones. One related issue to
this
new
technology
is that
education
is a human activity, and it works best with as much human interaction as possible. Impersonal
technology
cannot replace human contact found in traditional face-to-face tutorials and seminars.
Thus
, a piece of
technology
or tool can never be an alternative to expert tutors who know their
students
individually and act and teach them
accordingly
. On top of that, it will
also
reduce the concentration of its
students
if they are not focused 100% on the lecture.
On the other hand
, technological disruption in teaching methods in the form of online classes has offered more effective and flexible class schedules.
In other words
,
students
can access online learning wherever they want as they do not have to commute to school.
Thus
,
this
will cut the time spent on the road and will increase their productivity. On top of that, technological advancement has enabled
students
to have unlimited access to learning materials from all over the world. As an example, I can learn programming language as many as I want from the online courses that some universities uploaded to the online learning platform,
such
as edX and Coursera.
This
way, the
students
can enhance whatever skills they want to excel in. To conclude,
technology
in
education
may have its setbacks due to the fact that it could reduce concentration levels and human social skills.
However
, we could
also
rely on these new methods as it brings some important benefits and enables distance learning possible. It
also
becomes the only way of learning and teaching during lockdowns and pandemics.

Support ideas with relevant, specific examples

Examples make your writing easier to understand by illustrating points more effectively.

Examples, if used properly, not only help you get higher marks for ‘Task Response’ but also for ‘Coherence’.

When giving examples it is best to put them after your main idea or topic sentence. They can be used in the middle of supporting sentences or they can be used to start a new sentence. There is no rule for where exactly to give examples in essays, logically they would come after your main idea/topic sentence or just after a supporting sentence.

Linking words for giving examples:

  • for example
  • for instance
  • to illustrate this
  • to give a clear example
  • such as
  • namely
  • to illustrate
  • take, for example
