Dear Sir / Madam, I am writing to inform you that the sports and leisure centre which operates under the authority of the local council plays an essential role in the community nearby. I am a resident within the local council area and the majority of residents around
this
area use
this
for practising several sports which facilities are currently available as well as spending their leisure time effectively. If you implement the decision dwellers in
this
area have to go to the recreation club in the
next
town by having a 10km journey. And
also
this
is valuable for teenagers to do their sports and to spend their free time in an effective manner.
Otherwise
, they may tend to do harmful activities not only to themselves but
also
to society
such
as drug use, gambling, etc. It is kindly requested to continue opening it as did in the past. The matter regarding the decision was discussed in the
last
meeting of the community welfare unit.
Moreover
, it is possible to support with several aspects if it is required. Thank you for your favourable reply. Yours faithfully, Sanath Jayasekara

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
