You have a friend who lives in a city abroad. You have decided that you would like to apply to do a course at one of the colleges in this city. In your letter • Explain what you would like to do. • Tell him/her what type of work or studies you have been doing for the past few years • Ask for assistance in contacting an appropriate institution.
Dear Pete,
How are you? I hope you're fine. I am writing to let you know that I planned to pursue a culinary course, apart from my business management degree.
I've learned that universities in Canada, specifically in Alberta offer excellent culinary courses. And my Aunt who lives there is willing to let me stay with her during the duration of my study.
After working for a couple of years for a private firm, I am now managing our cafe. With my previous work experience, I can quite say I am handling it well. But of course, I want to be more engaged with
the
kitchen operations which is why I want to learn culinary arts.
Could you offer me some advice on which universities suit me at a moderate cost? It would be a great help if you could send me the contacts of those universities so that I could phone them myself.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Warm regards,
