As a result

 have to be able to use all components of the language properly, especially
idioms
, which are commonly used in all forms of discourse. It is not surprising that native speakers use idiomatic language effortlessly and subconsciously.
However
, as a non-native speaker, it can be challenging to comprehend and apply
idioms
 in daily contexts by learning in traditional ways. Today, thanks to the advancements of technology applied in education,
learners
 have more opportunities to study
English
 creatively and effectively. A multimodal approach is another new teaching method that has various positive impacts on the learning process, particularly for difficult contents
such
 as
idioms
. Fadel (2008) claimed that
learners
 who are taught through multimodal approaches normally have better performance than those who learn by traditional methods that incorporate one mode only.
Therefore
, in
this
 paper, the author conducted a survey to compare the effectiveness of learning
idioms
 through multimodal designs with traditional methods among Zanzibar university students.
In other words
, the authors’ target basically considers that the implementation of multimodal teaching approaches will surpass the limitations of the common ones.
