Some people believe that the purpose of education is to prepare people to useful members of society. Others think that the purpose of education is to help people to achieve personal ambitions. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

School serves many purposes and it is believed by some individuals, that the main goal is to teach students how to be good citizens and contribute to society. Others believe that it is for students to achieve their desires. In
this
essay, I will analyse both sides and explain my point of view. On the one hand, throughout the school years, individuals learn various skills and subjects mainly focused on possible careers that they may want to pursue.
For example
, my friend Marcus always wanted to be an informatics engineer, and in order to apply for college, he had to do exams for mathematics and physics. Different careers help society maintain a good economy, health system and entertainment, allowing for it to function
accordingly
. In
this
way, institutions should focus on helping people to be useful members of society.
For instance
, during the lockdown due to covid-19, healthcare practitioners among other professionals, had to dedicate themselves to the good of humanity, applying their knowledge to solving the problem that the world was facing at that time.
On the other hand
, schools
also
open a lot of doors for children and teenagers to dream about their life goals. They have to choose diversified subjects and extracurricular activities,
such
as biology or volleyball

and need help to accomplish their dreams.
Also
, some institutions give students the opportunity to have scholarships,
for instance
, that was the way Bill Gates started his career. Concluding, these are two distinctive points of view, one focuses on the individual as a contributor to the community, while the other values life purposes. In my opinion, both views are correct, and institutions should incorporate them into educational goals.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
