Nowadays many teenagers have a celebrity who they follow as a role model. Some people think this is not a good idea, because celebrities often set a bad example. Do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays, youngsters choose a star to follow which is really common. I believe that following a
celebrity
is not a good idea and sometimes can be harmful to adolescents . Following a superstar for young
people
can influence their identity, values, attitudes , and behaviours. A
celebrity
wears fancy clothes, travels with the most expensive aeroplane, and eats in the most luxurious restaurants and a lot of
people
follow and love her. In
this
way, teenagers may think that they should do the same to be approved by their friends and society. Between the age of 11 to 18, teenagers are in the process of shaping their identity and by modelling a popular figure, they may choose the wrong one because they see unrealistic images of the famous person’s life.
For example
, following the Kardashians may lead a teenage girl to think that wearing makeup and expensive clothes is a real value in society, which negatively affects her future. Another reason for believing the negative effects of a star on young
people
is that they normalize behaviours like smoking, poor relationships, and sexual behaviour. Juveniles follow a
celebrity
on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. They share unreal images of their lives
such
as the style of their smoking and young
people
may think that smoking is fun and cool, so they try to find classmates and friends who share the same opinion.
Also
, a
celebrity
can have different partners during their life. Youngsters read the news about their breakups and their new relationships after a few days. So they wonder “ is
this
behaviour usual or not?”. Afterwards, they might think it's acceptable and do it themselves.
For instance
, there was a girl in my high school who had three boyfriends at the same time and when we told her you should be with one person she said happily and proudly “ look at the Kardashians!”
Additionally
, a
celebrity
normalizes having sex with more that one partner which is deleterious for the future of our society.
As a result
, I totally agree that celebrities are not the best role models for our teenagers because they negatively influence their lives and normalize detrimental behaviours.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
