 and use them as a tool to protect themselves. First of all,

 of the criminal. it is rare for

 to know a criminal personally
thus
 they become very curious about them.

 series (You) Since they are not very familiar with
criminals
thus
 they find it interesting to watch because they can learn more about the

 move to watch other types of shows.
