Some people think that education and healthcare should be free of charge and funded by the government. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Certain individuals believe that the
government
ought to make
education
and
healthcare
free for all citizens. I agree with
this
statement and in my point of view, these commodities should be available for all
people
since the
government
will benefit from a well-educated and healthy population. In
this
essay, I will argue in favour of free
healthcare
and
education
. To start with, in my opinion, all citizens should have access to a free
education
because the
government
will be able to capitalise on
this
investment. Making schools and universities free of charge will increase the level of literacy
as well as
provide a
country
with different well-trained, high-quality specialists. These, in turn, will be able to land better jobs, support the local economy and pay taxes,
further
improving the economy of the state. Having high levels of literacy can
also
have huge benefits for the
government
since educated
people
are more likely to engage in trades, create small businesses and
otherwise
be economically active.
For instance
, countries
such
as Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkey, and others have a state-funded system of scholarships that makes
education
more available,
however
, in the case of Kazakhstan, the
government
requires their alumni to
work
for a Kazakhstani company for three years. Regarding
healthcare
, I
also
believe that
healthcare
should be accessible to everybody for the reason of the possible benefits the
government
can get from
this
. Keeping
people
healthy will ensure a
government
's ability to effectively rule the
country
since healthy
people
will be economically active, meaning they will
work
, engage in trade, and pay taxes,
therefore
supplying the
government
with funds. The healthier the
people
are, the more effectively they will
work
. Another reason why the
government
should be obliged to provide the necessary conditions for universal
healthcare
is it should value the lives and well-being of its population since human life is guaranteed by the legislative documents of the corresponding
country
to be a priority for the
country
. To illustrate, the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan states that its
people
are the most important to the
country
and
this
is shown as free and available
healthcare
for all its citizens. Another
country
that has universal
healthcare
is The United Kingdom, which is
also
known for being one of the healthiest countries in the world.
To conclude
, it is crucial for a
country
to make
education
and
healthcare
accessible because it can benefit from them.
People
who are healthy and well-educated are able to contribute to the nation’s
overall
economical state by being engaged in
work
, paying taxes and purchasing different goods.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 250 words in writing task 2. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long essay will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 260 to 290 words in writing task 2. This will ensure a concise essay and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 40 minutes to write the essay and you need around 10 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long essay in 30 minutes.
