Nowadays, even though imprisonment is an efficient solution for preventing crime, education proved to be a more efficient one. Do you agree or disagree?
Currently, some
offenders
are jailed for their crimes which set an example for the person involved in illegal activity and other people in society that breaking the law can result in negative consequences. However
, it has been proved that rehabilitating people involved in criminal acts through education
alleviates their negative thoughts and gives them a purpose in life that can be beneficial for them and indirectly for society, thus
preventing crime
. Considering my thoughts, I do not fully agree that education
is the sole effective method for preventing atrocity.
Undoubtedly, jail
keeps society safe from offenders
. Education
can still be provided inside the jail
. For instance
, many countries have structured education
programs for offenders
that are taught inside the jail
. The education
program comprises basic subjects such
as English, maths, and science and skill development courses. There are days in a week in which teachers are hired to give skills training to the offenders
in imprisonment for example
cooking and sewing classes. As a result
of this
education
, many criminals can develop positive personalities and skills that can help them earn bread in the future once they are released from jail
.
Although
the combination of imprisonment and education
has proved to be very beneficial in declining the rate of crime
, there is a certain crime
that requires strict punishments inside jails. For instance
, serial killers or terrorists with so many murders on their hands must need the death penalty and strict jail
rules so that this
barbaric act can be prevented by setting such
people as symbols of misery because of their unforgivable acts. In such
cases, education
has the least effect on preventing such
crime
.
To conclude
, education
is very important in grooming a man’s character and making him learn the difference between good and bad. However
, some crime
needs strict penalties and imprisonment for preventing crimes.Submitted by sadaf.pearl on
