Children today spend more time watching television than they did in the past. Describe some of the advantages and disadvantages of television for children.

In
this
contemporary world, it is undoubtedly true that
children
of
this
generation are just watching television. One school of thought opines that
infants
spend the whole day sitting in front of the television
whereas
, there are certain people advocating the opposite stating that
children
are spending more time than the past generation used to.
This
essay shall discuss both advantages and disadvantages in
further
paragraphs and a conclusion will be drawn later on.
To begin
with, there are myriads of reasons, supporting the former view would put
further
,
firstly
, that the
infants
watching television can increase their skills and learning ability as there are many informative programs and they can learn from it.
For example
,
children
watch national geographic shows where they can learn various things about wildlife or some historic places or events. It can impact
infants
in a positive way.
On the other hand
, there are certain people supporting the latter view, as, watching
TV
more can
also
affect
children
's minds where if they watch violent programs in movies or some other shows it can impact them in a negative way.
For instance
, In many countries
children
spending more time sitting in front of the
TV
are becoming more violent and it is affecting their mental health and they are getting more aggressive and behaving more violently. As,
infants
are not getting physically fit by just sitting the whole day in front of the
TV
whereas
, in the past
infants
used to play outdoor games more frequently than watching
TV
. Agglomerating all the points, I hereby opine that the disadvantages of watching
TV
outweigh the advantages.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
