Overall
, it can be seen that the USA
has always had the highest percentages among the analyzed countries, whereas
Japan
has had the lowest portion in all three decades. Additionally
, it is clear that
the number of fat people steadily grew in the 30-year period in all four countries.
Australia and the USA
were the countries having the greatest proportions of obese communities. Although
Australia, in 1980, had a similar percentage to Finland
's one, it first experienced a slight increase in 1990 and then
a notable one in 2000, increasing its fraction by a total of around 10%. Regarding the USA
, it approximately doubled its percentage, going from 15% of the overweight population to over 30%.
Japan
and Finland
had a quite low number of obese inhabitants, as Japan
always remained under 5% of its total population, and the maximum of overweight people living in Finland
was, in 2000, just around half of the USA
