The graph below shows the number of shops that closed and the number of new shops that opened in one country between 2011 and 2018. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The line chart illustrates how many
shops
were opened and closed in a particular country from 2011 to 2018.
It is manifest from the graph that both numbers of department store closures and openings saw a downward trend in the 7-year period. The sum of stores that had been opened was about 8500 in 2011 before decreasing dramatically to only 4000 in the next year. But while
the number
of shops
that had been set up went up to above 6000 by 2014, followed by a corresponding drop, only 3000 shops
opened in 2018.
There were just under 6500 shops
closed in 2011, the number
then
fluctuated in the next three years, with above 6500 shops
closed in 2014. Similarly
, the number
of shop closures declined sharply to almost 500 by 2015 before increasing rapidly to over 5000 in the next year and remaining stable until 2018.
Overall
, compared to the number
of market openings that dropped dramatically in the past 7 years, markets that had been closed declined slightly. However
, both amounts of closures and openings saw a sharp fall from 2014 to 2015.Submitted by xiangyiwan5 on
