The following chart illustrates the changes that took place in three different areas of crime in Newport city centre from 2003 -2012.
Overall
,it easily can be seen that the
number
of burglaries experienced a significant drop,
while
rates of car theft and robbery were changing differently.
Firstly
,the
number
of burglary occasions started at 3400,
then
after one year it increased considerably,
however
after reaching the peak of 3800 in 2004 the
number
of burglary occasions started dropping consistently for over 4 years.
After
this
significant ,change it experienced an enlargement,which was stable in the future.
Whereas
car theft started at the point of two thousand and nine hundred and stayed the same for a few years. But
then
there was a considerable decrease in the
number
of 2000. After one year
then
it followed a slight rise and it was fluctuating until it increased and stayed stable.
Finally
, if we take a look at the
number
of robberies which stayed at the point of 750 we can notice that it was unstable for a long period of time and became the same as it was at 2003
