Nowadays, a vast majority of the population uses the
internet
in their daily lives, which has caused numerous
problems
. In my opinion, the leading
problems
associated with
this
use
are the danger of becoming addicted to it and the detrimental effects on
people
’s mental
health
, but these could be solved by restricting hours designated to the
internet
and establishing measures to educate citizens about the dangers of the
internet
.
A leading associated problem with
internet
use
could be becoming addicted to surfing the web. Currently, there is a lot of evidence about the connection between the amount of
time
people
spend on their electronic devices and similar effects on them with other effects caused by addictions
such
as chemical drugs, gambling or alcohol.
For example
, when
people
spend all day on their phones, they do not realise how much
time
they have consumed.
Moreover
, many
people
prefer to stay at home playing video games
instead
of spending
time
with their relatives, resulting in an isolated person who depends on the net to have good times.
However
, a reasonable solution could be to establish electronic programmes to switch off devices when they reach a specific amount of
time
consumed.
Another principal issue related to these technological advances is the detrimental effect the
internet
has on
people
’s mental
health
. When
people
consume large amounts of hours over their daily lives, they could suffer from mental
health
issues,
such
as depression or anxiety.
For instance
, many celebrities have declared on their social networks that they suffer from these mental illnesses
due to
the negative comments they receive and that they need psychological therapy to deal with these
problems
.
Furthermore
, many children
use
the
internet
at a younger than other generations could, resulting in mental
health
illnesses
such
as bullying and cyberbullying. Despite
this
, if governments establish courses to educate citizens about the dangers of the net and the correct
use
of it, the mental
health
of the population could improve.
To conclude
, I believe that the widespread
use
of the
internet
has within it many associated
problems
such
as vulnerability to addiction and mental
health
problems
,
while
the solutions could be the reduction of the
time
designated on electronic devices and the establishment of measures to educate the population in order to reduce these issues.
