Some people say that it is possible to tell a lot about a person’s culture and character from their choice of clothes. Do you agree or disagree?

There is no doubt that people prefer to wear different styles of clothes. A larger number of people argue that by looking at someone's outfits, their religion and personality could be guessed,
however
, I do not agree with
this
belief. In
this
essay, I would explain my view with suitable examples.
To begin
with, there are various traditions and customs followed by individuals,
hence
, it is nearly impossible to identify the religion by just looking at their dressing sense. To elaborate, Hindus usually wear white colour dresses at a funeral to grieve,
while
Christian brides would wear white gowns during their weddings. Both these scenarios are depicting completely different stories. As per
this
, drawing out a conclusion about a person's religious beliefs through a dress is difficult.
Furthermore
, individuals probably spend most of their time at workplaces which usually have a proper dress code to follow,
as a result
, recognizing their personalities would require evaluating their skills.
For instance
, employees of a company are expected to wear formal dresses, and by glancing at those costumes it does not give an insight about their working style to managers.
Moreover
, it
also
depends on the financial situation of an individual
while
purchasing clothes.
For example
, people usually set a budget
while
purchasing outfits as they would not prefer spending an ample amount of money.
To sum up
,
due to
a number of religions followed by humans, restrictions on following the dress code at the workplace, and personal choices of spending money on outfits, I strongly believe that interpreting someone's character and culture through clothes is merely not possible.

Support ideas with relevant, specific examples

Examples make your writing easier to understand by illustrating points more effectively.

Examples, if used properly, not only help you get higher marks for ‘Task Response’ but also for ‘Coherence’.

When giving examples it is best to put them after your main idea or topic sentence. They can be used in the middle of supporting sentences or they can be used to start a new sentence. There is no rule for where exactly to give examples in essays, logically they would come after your main idea/topic sentence or just after a supporting sentence.

Linking words for giving examples:

  • for example
  • for instance
  • to illustrate this
  • to give a clear example
  • such as
  • namely
  • to illustrate
  • take, for example
