The table below gives information on consumer spending on different items in five different countries in 2002. Write a report for University describing the information shown below. Make comparison where relevant.
The given table illustrates the proportion of
consumer
expenditure for three categories in five countries in the year 2002.
Overall
, it is true that
while
the largest percentage of
consumer
spending went on food, drinks and tobacco in each country,
leisure
and
education
were lower than the two others. In 2002,
consumer
spending on food, drinks and tobacco was higher in Turkey at 32,14% and in Ireland at 28,91. The proportion of spending on
leisure
and
education
was
also
higher in Turkey, at 4.35%. It was 3.22% in Sweden and 3.20% in Italy. Expenditure on closing and footwear was significantly higher in Italy, at 9% than in other countries.
Although
Ireland, Spain and Turkey had nearly the same percentage of closing and footwear, in Sweden,
this
category is the lowest than others in the table. It can be seen that Sweden had the lowest percentage of national
consumer
expenditure for food, drinks and tobacco
as well as
for
leisure
and
education
, at nearly 16% and over 3% respectively. Spain had the lowest figure for
leisure
and
education
, at almost 2%
