In some countries, when someone gets old, they often go to live in a home with other people where there are nurses to look after them. Sometimes the government has to pay for this care. Who do you think should pay for this care, the government or the family?
In recent years, a noticeable decline in birth rates and the prevalence of individualism has induced the destruction of traditional family structures.
Due to
this
trend, some families no longer live with their old parents, so elderly citizens
tend to live in the nursing home. Some think that the government
should support them financially instead
of their family. I partly agree that government
should fund them to some extent.
First of all, I certainly think that governments should take responsibility for taking care of elderly citizens
. This
is because the public can pay plenty of taxes during their life and they can contribute to various social development. When they get older, the government
should look after them. Besides
, in a welfare state, it is an obligation to help the poor, and the underprivileged without families. Moreover
, the world gradually has become an ageing society so some elderly citizens
do not have a family for looking after them. In that sense, they should support by the government
.
On the other hand
, the government
spends a lot of public money on citizens
, so it should not be overlooked that there is a real limit to paying for the whole of the elderly's needs. The government
can help them with only essential parts. Generally, most people have different lifestyles and ideal things, so it is hard to accommodate all old citizens
. In this
case, the family should help their parents to take care.
In conclusion, given that the working population is decreasing and the ageing is increasing, not only the government
but also
individuals should support financially fund to elderly who live in nursing homes.Submitted by gnlwnww on
