Despite all the misgivings I had, I was pleasantly surprised at the lovely landscape and hospitality of the people there. It was indeed a memorable experience. I'm sorry I couldn't reach out sooner as my mother was sick. I found out on my return and we've been running helter-skelter just to get her the best healthcare. Thankfully, she is much better now. The health scare made me realize how precious life is and for that reason, I will be celebrating my birthday next week. It will be my pleasure to have you over at my house for the occasion. You should use complex sentences in your writing, but it does not mean that you should try to make all of our sentences complex.

‘Complex’ sentences are not actually very complex; they are just two or more simple sentences put together. Putting them together makes the essay more coherent and cohesive.

Examples:
