Dear Catherine, How are you? I hope you’re feeling okay. I recently ran into Maya and she told me the devastating news of your dog’s passing. I am so sorry for your loss, hope you’re able to recover. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain you’ve experienced. I know you were very fond of Lucy; she was so cute! I really wish I could’ve been there for you, and hold your hand throughout the whole ordeal. I genuinely hope your healing journey is going well. I have so many fond memories of Lucy, do you remember that time we decided to go camping in the woods, and she kept barking at the bushes whenever they moved? It was so hilarious when the cause turned out to be a squirrel! She always gave me a hug whenever she saw me, and I cherish that memory. Anyway, I know you could use a distraction, so I was wondering if you’d like to visit me in Barcelona? We could go on that cruise I’ve been telling you about and visit the best restaurants. I’m sure you’d love the city. Looking forward to hearing from you. All the best, Mona

To score effectively on your IELTS exam, you should make an effort to implement short concise sentences coupled with linking words.

Almost every sentence in your essay should have a linking word of some sort.

In fact, the only sentences that can omit linking words are your background sentence and thesis.
