You were absent from an important event held by the company you work for. Write a letter to your manager. In your letter: Apologize for your absence and explain the reasoning. Explain why you had to be at the other event. Explain what you will do to catch up.
Dear Mr Evans,
I am writing to you in regard to my absence from the company’s charity gala that took place
last
Sunday. Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances arose and prevented me from attending it.
I would like to apologize for not being present, I appreciate it was an important event. Although
I was set on attending, my mother needed an emergency heart procedure on that day. As you are aware, my father passed away a year ago, so me and my sister are all the family my mother has left.
However
, my sister was out of town, so I was the only next of kin available. That is
why I had to be present at the hospital. Should a need for emergency consent forms arise while
my mother was incapacitated, I was to be responsible for signing them. Thankfully, the surgery was performed, and no complications occurred.
In order to catch up on all the important information I have missed, I shall ask my colleague Sarah to share with me all the notes she took throughout the gala. I will make sure to reach out to all of the generous donors who contributed that day and thank them on behalf of the company.
I look forward to your response.
Kind regards,
