WRITING TASK 1 You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. You have a problem with a neighbour. Write a letter to your neighbour. In your letter • describe the problem • say how long it has been a problem • explain what action you want the neighbour to take Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses. Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Mr John, I hope you are doing well. I am Steve who has just shifted with my family next to your house 2 months ago. I am a hospitality student studying in my final years. I would like to tell you I am facing a problem because of you. As we stay next to each other but we have never met. The music that you play in your house every morning is too loud and it disturbs my study.
Furthermore
, my exam is going on because of loudspeakers I cannot study properly in the morning, which makes me difficult to concentrate on my studies. I would like you to reduce the music volume so that I can study properly and score good marks to get a future. I hope you understood my problem. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully, Steve

Use a variety of complex and simple sentences

You should use complex sentences in your writing, but it does not mean that you should try to make all of our sentences complex.

‘Complex’ sentences are not actually very complex; they are just two or more simple sentences put together. Putting them together makes the essay more coherent and cohesive.

Examples:

I really want to study but I’m too tired.

I wore a warm coat because the weather was cold.

If action is not taken soon on climate change, global warming will get worse.
