Spoken communication is more powerful than written communication. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is widely believed that verbal communication is more effective than writing. I wholeheartedly agree with
this
notion, as I firmly believe that interacting with others through speech is superior to using writing as a means of transferring information.
This
belief stems from two key reasons.
Firstly
, speaking allows thoughts to be conveyed in a clearer manner. Through speech, one can utilize gestures, facial expressions, and voice tone to convey the intended meaning of words to the audience. The significance of
this
becomes evident when we consider how certain words or phrases can possess multiple meanings. In
such
cases, the tone of voice helps clarify which meaning is intended.
For example
, we can discern if a speaker is serious or joking based on the intonation and rhythm of their speech.
Secondly
,
while
speaking, speakers have the ability to instantly modify or correct sentences. By providing immediate feedback on the speaker's words, listeners enable them to make necessary changes in

This
facilitates faster and more accurate transmission of meaning between individuals.
Conversely
, in written communication, reader feedback typically comes after reading the entire text has been completed.
For instance
, during an oral debate, participants express their points more expeditiously by interrupting each other. In conclusion - despite both writing and speaking possessing unique qualities - oral expression stands out as a significantly better mode of communication compared to written texts.

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 250 words in writing task 2. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long essay will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 260 to 290 words in writing task 2. This will ensure a concise essay and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 40 minutes to write the essay and you need around 10 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long essay in 30 minutes.
