The first chart below shows how energy is used in an average Australian household. The second chart shows the greenhouse gas emissions which result from this energy use.
The first pie chart depicts data about the proportions of
energy
used in 6 different categories, whereas
the following chart demonstrates the gas emissions
caused by this
energy
consumption.
Overall
, it is clear that
3 different categories , namely heating, water heating and other appliances were used the most in terms of energy
usage and consequently
caused the highest proportion of CO2 emissions
, while
the lighting and cooling,on the other hand
, were the lowest figures in both charts.
Looking into more detail, the amounts of energy
spent on heating and water heating were 42% and 30% respectively. Furthermore
, electricity used for cooling, lighting and refrigeration was 13% altogether, which didn't even exceed the energy
usage of other appliances.
According to
the second graph, as can be vividly seen the emissions
from heating the water and other usages were the leaders at 32% and just under 30% respectively. In addition
to this
, the heating and refrigeration categories were approximately at the same level, at nearly 15% on average, which was 5 times higher than carbon emissions
from cooling. Also
, the figure for lighting was 8% in terms of greenhouse gas emissions
