Write a letter to the Planning Manager of your local council about a historical building in your area that is about to be pulled down due to the lack of money to repair it. In your letter State why the building is important What the building can be used for in the future Suggest ways for paying for the repairs

Dear Mr Manohar, There have been many reforms done by you in the
last
2 years ever since your deputation in our
city
and we are very obliged for the same.
This
is to draw your attention that there is one historical building near my residence which is said to be around 300 yrs old. It is the oldest; used to be a place of visit some 10 years ago but as the concrete of the building has started falling off, it requires some renovation and correction.
This
building is very important to preserve for many reasons and one of them is that it is the oldest in the entire district, a place for many visitors, it is on the outskirts of the
city
and nearby river bay, etc. Many times, locals have attempted to reach out to authorities for the same but no positive response is gotten. They often stated that funds are required to mend the issue.
This
building if repaired, can be utilised for several matters.
For example
, a tourist attraction, Museum can be set up, it has a sufficient place that can be utilized for many ceremonies by residents of the
city
and by all from a district, and importantly the oldest monument could be restored for the future generation.
Furthermore
, money spent on making corrections can easily be recovered by organizing the aforementioned programs. We wish you have some steps taken for the betterment of the historical building to keep it alive for generations to come. Anticipating a positive response after a thorough probe. Regards, A well-wisher of the
city

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
